Cajus CaesarParticipantMy name is Cajus Caesar and I’m from Germany. I decided to travel to Thailand because I wanted to experience a different culture and see what life is like in another country. I’m interested in learning more about Thai culture, food, and daily life.
One challenge might be the language barrier and getting used to a new environment, but I plan to learn some basic Thai and adapt over time.
Overall, I hope to gain new experiences, learn about a different culture, and grow from living in a new place.

Regina GroganParticipantI come from a background in technology and cybersecurity, where I developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Over time, I realized I wanted a more meaningful, flexible, and people-centered lifestyle.
I decided to move to Thailand to experience a new culture and reset both mentally and physically.
This opportunity allows me to step outside of my comfort zone and live more intentionally.
I’m especially interested in teaching and connecting with people in a more direct and impactful way.
I expect cultural differences and communication barriers to be some of the biggest challenges.
However, I plan to approach these with curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.
I also anticipate moments of discomfort or isolation but will focus on building community and staying grounded.
Through this experience, I hope to grow personally, become more resilient, and gain a broader global perspective.
Ultimately, I want to leave Thailand with greater clarity about my future and the kind of life I want to build.March 26, 2026 at 1:15 pm #34934
Sarah CoghillParticipantHi my name is Sarah and I’m an 28-year-old Australian who has been teaching for the past three years. Over that time, I’ve developed a real passion for working with students and creating a positive learning environment, but I’ve also reached a point where I’m ready to step outside my comfort zone and grow in new ways.
I’ve decided to move to Thailand because I’m excited by the opportunity to experience a different culture, expand my teaching skills, and challenge myself both personally and professionally. It feels like the right time to take a leap, even though it comes with a mix of excitement and nerves.
I expect there will be challenges along the way, such as adjusting to a new environment, navigating cultural differences, and building confidence in an unfamiliar setting. However, I plan to approach these challenges with an open mind, a willingness to learn, and by staying adaptable and resilient.
Ultimately, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the world, grow as both a teacher and a person, and come away from the experience with new skills, perspectives, and lasting memories.

Ayanda PageParticipantHey my name is Ayanda Page. I’m from Austin, Texas. I am currently a bartender/ server at a luxury movie theater. I studied public relations management at Durban University of technology in Durban, South Africa. I am currently looking to change careers and travel the world more. I believe this would be a great experience to learn other cultures as well as share my experiences.
I think the challenges I face are stepping out of my comfort zone and immersing myself around people and cultures I’m not familiar with. I’m very excited to join this program and learn as much as possible.March 26, 2026 at 5:26 pm #34942
Dustin PollardParticipantHello Everyone,
I am an archaeologist by trade and have worked a plethora of jobs in a variety of industries spanning three continents, but one of my all time favorite jobs was teaching English in Peru. It was an extremely rewarding experience to hear my students gradually begin to decode and understand the language I was teaching, and even though I have pursued several other professions since then I have decided to enrich my one and only life by teaching it again. I have always been an enthusiast of Asian culture and southeast Asia has been calling my name for a very long time. I choose Thailand because I have heard so much good about it as well as it’s neighboring countries. On the flip side I do not speak any Thai so that will likely be the biggest challenge for me, but I intend to overcome it through new-fashioned translation software as well as old-fashioned due diligence, the same way I learned Spanish. From this experience, I hope to enrich my life further and try to quench my insatiable thirst for adventure. Can’t wait to meet you all, I’m so excited!!March 26, 2026 at 5:33 pm #34946

Joshua MorrisseyParticipantHello,
My name is Joshua Morrissey and I am from St. Louis, Missouri. I have a degree in English but have worked in restaurants for the past four years. From elementary school through college, some of the most inspiring people in my life have been my teachers and professors, and I hope that with this transition into education I can be as supportive and inspiring to my students as my teachers were for me. The reason I decided to teach in Thailand wasn’t for any glaring reason, but simply the novelty of a new culture and place. During the application process I wanted to keep an open mind about moving to a multitude of countries, but ultimately the opportunity here in Thailand felt like the right one for me.
The greatest challenge of being here is the language barrier. While Bangkok can be accommodating to basic English, I am working in Nakhon Sawan, several hours north, where it is even more important to have a functional understanding of Thai. While I am excited to learn and for the moment where I can communicate clearly, the English-Thai pipeline has proven difficult, especially as inflection is such an important part of the spoken language.
Ultimately, with this experience I hope I can become a good mentor and teacher for my students, a deeper understanding of another culture, and become fluent in Thai as a means to fully embrace where I am.

Michael FrostParticipantHi, I’m Mikey, and from the UK I currently work as a Paramedic within the South West. I have decided to move to Thailand to set myself new challenges and develop my skills around teaching, which is something I’m particularly passionate about. There’s gonna be many challenges along the way, including being away from home for a year, and also a complete change of career pathway, which will hopefully lead to new exciting opportunities. There may also be issues with a language barrier. However, many strategies can be used to overcome these, including clear speaking, as well as many others.

Emylia BoucParticipantHi all!
My name is Emylia Bouc. I am twenty-seven years old and I am from St. Louis, Mo. I am the oldest of seven children all who I am very close with. I now live in Thailand! with my husband, who also teaches English. I have a degree in English Lit. with a minor in History. We have chosen Thailand as our new home to fully immerse ourselves in this beautiful culture. In school I spent much of my time studying, specifically, southeast Asian history and religion. I am so excited to take all that I have learned and experience the rich culture in person.
I believe the biggest challenge I face is being so far from my family. As I previously mentioned, my family and I are all very close. Being so far away will definitely be my biggest hurdle.
I hope to gain a new appreciation and understanding of Thai language, history and culture from my time here! I cannot wait to begin my new adventure.April 1, 2026 at 2:50 pm #35007
Paul ThompsonParticipantHi everyone! My name is Paul, and I’m from Monterey, California. I’ve spent most of my career working in customer service, operations, and training for companies such as AT&T and Apple. I also have a background in coaching and fitness. Over the past two years I’ve completed my TEFL certification and started teaching English to ESL learners both online and in person. That experience really confirmed for me that teaching is something I enjoy and want to continue pursuing.
One thing that probably stands out is that I’m a bit older than most people starting this journey—I’m 54. That said, I actually see that as a positive. I bring a lot of life experience, patience, and perspective, and I’m coming into this with a genuine appreciation for the opportunity. This isn’t something I’m just trying out—it’s something I’ve worked very hard toward and really want to do.
I decided to move to Thailand because I was ready for a change and wanted to challenge myself in a new environment. I’m really drawn to the culture, the people, and the chance to grow both personally and professionally while teaching.
I know there will be challenges—adjusting to a new country, working with younger students, learning the language and continuing to build confidence in the classroom—but I’m looking forward to all of it. My plan is to stay flexible, keep learning, and take things one step at a time.
What I hope to get out of this experience is simple: become a better teacher, make a positive impact on my students, and fully experience life in Thailand. I’m also looking forward to meeting people in the program and learning from everyone along the way.
Looking forward to this journey with all of you.

Joashe GovenderParticipantI am a 26-year-old South African professional with a background in management consulting and a strong passion for education and youth development. I hold a BSc in Geological Sciences and have completed a 120-hour TEFL certification, equipping me with the skills to teach English effectively in diverse classroom environments. Alongside my corporate experience at Accenture, I have consistently been involved in teaching—whether through private tutoring, classroom teaching as a student teacher, or mentoring over 80 students through volunteer programs. These experiences have shaped my ability to communicate clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create engaging learning environments.
I have decided to move to Thailand because I am looking for a more purpose-driven and culturally enriching experience. Teaching English allows me to combine my professional skills with my passion for making a meaningful impact. Thailand, in particular, offers a unique opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, meet people from different backgrounds, and grow both personally and professionally while contributing to students’ development.
I do expect some challenges along the way, such as adapting to a new culture, overcoming language barriers, and adjusting to a different education system. However, I see these as opportunities for growth. My experience working in diverse teams and engaging with stakeholders from various backgrounds has prepared me to be adaptable and resilient. I plan to overcome these challenges by staying open-minded, continuously learning, and actively integrating into the local community.
From this experience, I hope to grow into a more well-rounded individual—both professionally and personally. I want to become a more effective educator, develop a global perspective, and build meaningful connections. Ultimately, I hope to leave a positive and lasting impact on my students while gaining experiences that will shape my future career and outlook on the world.April 3, 2026 at 11:40 am #35020
Verena ChieregatoParticipantHi everyone! My name is Verena, I’m 30 years old and I’m from Bolzano, Italy. I grew up in a bilingual Italian-German household and have always had a passion for languages and other cultures. I majored in Russian and American studies and also in Translation and Interpreting. For the past 2 years, I’ve been teaching German at different high schools. I came to realize that I profoundly love this job and that I want to specialize in teaching English, as it is my true passion. I have been in Indonesia last summer and I fell in love with the South Asian way of life. As I am currently transitioning into a full-time teaching position, I thought I’d take this last chance at living abroad and having an international teaching experience. Given the current geopolitical situation and being quite an anxious person, I am obviously scared that anything will go wrong and that I will have to face it all alone. I am also concerned about being separated from my partner for so long. However, I am sure this experience will allow me to grow as a teacher and as a person, to experience a new way of life and to gain a new perspective on our beautiful world.

Leo RickettsParticipantHello all,
My name is Leo Ricketts, and I am from Newark, New Jersey, USA. For the past fifteen years, I have worked in education and public service, focusing on social studies, music, and history across the United States and parts of the Western Hemisphere. While I have valued the opportunity to travel and teach in different regions, the evolving landscape of education in the United States has made the profession increasingly difficult to sustain. Additionally, as a Black man from a working-class background, I have faced challenges related to race, class, and political dynamics that have impacted both my professional and personal well-being. After a decade without traveling abroad—due to my commitment to work and family—and following the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, I reached a point of burnout. I have decided to move to Thailand to revitalize my career, regain balance, and pursue a healthier path forward.
I anticipate one of my greatest challenges will be adapting to a new cultural and professional environment. I will need to adjust my communication style by tempering Western directness and becoming more attentive to social nuance. I plan to navigate this by listening carefully, observing, asking thoughtful questions, and approaching situations with patience and respect.
Through this experience, I hope to grow personally and professionally while continuing my passions for music, cooking, and travel. I look forward to joining a diverse, supportive community of educators and learners.

From this experience, I hope to develop strong teaching skills, build confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of another culture. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, travelling around the country, and making the most of the opportunity to live and work in a completely different part of the world.
